“Hi! Im Riko from Japan 🙂 I have treated over 5000 clients and have over 20 years experience as a qualified Australian Massage Therapy Association Therapist. I have found a passion for connecting with people through the healing process.
I received my qualification in 2007 from Q Academy in Queensland. I owned and operated a remedial massage Gold Coast clinic for 12 years before deciding to lessen the stress of operating my own business and now love just purely focusing on massage for each of my clients hereat PhysioFlex and in the Southport community.
Specialise in:
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Chronic pain (fibromyalgia, whiplash, lower back)
- Pre & post operation
- Headache/Migraine
- Chest pain (shortness of breath)
- Pregnancy pain
I guess you could say my style is unique as many clients ask where I learnt the techniques. I really love working at PhysioFlex and within the team environment and discovering new techniques to satisfy my clients”.

Types of Massage
Deep Tissue
Therapeutic and targets deeper layers of muscle and fascia to alleviate pain and stiffness. This can be used to push swelling and inflammation away from an injured area.
Sports
A specialised massage for athletes and active individuals that helps to improve performance and speed up the recovery process
Lymphatic Drainage
Riko is fully trained in lymphatic drainage. She begins by clearing the proximal lymphatic nodes closer to the groin or under the arms. She will then slowly move out to the distal limbs massaging up from the foot or hands toward the body. The delicacy and detail of this massage is exceptional. Leaving you with great results.
Prenatal + Pregnancy
Gentle and nurturing for expectant mothers that promotes relaxation and relieves common pregnancy discomforts from the lower back and the expanding SIJ. Special positions are used to accommodate for the little one.
Swedish
A relaxing and rejuvenating full-body massage that uses long, flowing strokes to improve circulation and relieve stress.
Relaxation
Soft, gentle technique that also uses breathing techniques to help you relax and be at ease. If not wanting the pressure to firm then this is a great option.
Myofascial Release
A manual therapy technique aimed at releasing tension and restoring mobility in the body’s fascia—the connective tissue surrounding muscles. It involves applying sustained pressure and stretching to alleviate pain, improve flexibility, and enhance overall tissue health and function.
Reflexology
Complementary therapy that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, or ears. It is based on the belief that these points correspond to different organs and systems in the body, promoting relaxation, balance, and well-being.
Remedial Massage + Trigger Point Therapy
An assessment for possible injury or dysfunction, while providing treatment and rehabilitation. A firmer massage that focuses on lengthening the muscles and releasing any build-up of lactic acid or other unwanted fluids in the muscles.
PNF (Proprioceptor Neuromuscular Facilitation) stretching technique
This is a combination of stretching and contracting of the muscle to ultimately lengthen the muscle from a shortened position. The therapist will normally take your muscle to a maximally lengthened position before asking you to contract the muscle, taking some deep breaths and then relaxing again.
MET (Muscle Energy Technique)
This is essentially the same as PNF (above). Your therapist will guide your joint and muscle to the end of range and ask you to contract back against the therapist before asking you to relax again. The therapist will then aim to increase the range even further before repeating the process.
Deep Breathing Techniques
Whilst your massage will improve circulation, it is essential to ensure that the blood flow is well oxygenated. Throughout your session our therapist will guide you through deep breathing and meditation techniques to ensure you are maximally filling those lungs and your blood is receiving as much Oxygen as possible. It can allow the muscles and nerves to regenerate.
Couples Massage
Our Promise
The feeling after your massage will be one of complete tranquility and sedation. It will allow you to reset, free the mind of ongoing anxiety and allow your body to maximally function. We recommend 1 hour at least to completely unwind and relax.
